The company can trace its roots back to a time just after the height of the industrial revolution when new manufacturing techniques gave rise to the Burt and Packard Shoe Company (a company that soon renamed to Field and Flint). The footjoy golf shoe soon became the footwear of choice for the American Ryder Cup Team.
