TaylorMade SIM Max Rescue Club Pro Review
It’s easy to get over-excited when it comes to new equipment and each new product might be seen as a new dawn but believe me when I say that the new SIM Max hybrid from TaylorMade is an absolute belter. For the first time we’re seeing the high swing speed tour pros including Rory McIlroy using what many would identify as a true hybrid as opposed to the sleeker UDI style models.
By reimagining the v steel technology seen in many other TaylorMade models, the hybrids benefit from less turf interaction and also improved versatility in poorer lies, something not often available in driving iron style clubs. There is also the benefit of twistface to improve ball flight on off-centre hits. One feature I really believe golfers will notice is the thru slot speed pocket which helps create ball speed throughout and delivers better numbers when hit off centre.
Who is This Club Aimed At?
Given the forgiveness and high performance it is fair to say that this club will appeal to the vast majority of golfers. The lofts go all the way up to 31 degrees (to replace a 7 iron) with the lowest loft being 19 degrees so golfers will find a realistic way to get these clubs in their golf bags. The hybrid is also available for lady golfers and seniors which will widen the net as it were significantly.
Insider Tips
Firstly, keep an open mind and don’t believe that just because you have a fast swing speed that you are not going to benefit from a hybrid. The versatility and stability is evident from the first shot with this club and the club is available in a number of stiffer shafts. Conversely this club is not simply reserved for those golfers with faster swing speeds.
Secondly, when selecting hybrid clubs really pay close attention to what is already in your bag at the longer end. One can find they have a couple of clubs all going within a very similar distance of each other. Maybe it’s time to drop the 3 iron or the 5 wood.
