TaylorMade SIM Max Fairway Pro Review

Once we took delivery of these I couldn’t wait to give them a bash. The colour scheme of the SIM Max looks great and the sound is more like that of an older steel headed fairway than that of a club that has a mixture of steel and composite carbon.

Like all of the SIM fairways and hybrids the SIM Max features reimagined V steel technology which makes it a very versatile club in terms of being playable from many lies and off the tee. The use of the multi material design allows the centre of gravity to be placed in an ultra low position thus creating a high launching fairway metal. We also see the twist face technology that helps golfers with their off centre hits bring the ball back to target.

Who is the SIM Max Fairway For?

As with most TaylorMade fairway ranges we see a standard model as well as a d type version. The D type has a draw bias and a slightly higher loft making it more workable for those golfers who slice the ball. There is also a ladies’ version which is a little lighter which as a rule of thumb is better for female golfers.

Broadly speaking this club will also suit somebody who wants a versatile fairway metal that can be used off the fairway as well as semi rough and off the tee. Those that want the maximum distance from a fairway wood might be better suited looking at the SIM fairway.

Any Insider Tips?

Golfers already struggling with a left to right ball flight may find that this is exaggerated off the fairway. If this is the case, consider the d type to help correct the ball flight.
