PXG 0311 Irons
The few engineers, designers and golf fanatics that are chosen to work for PXG are truly blessed with the ability to strive for perfection rather than hitting deadlines or financial targets. They are given the freedom to create products that outperform the competition without the same constant drive for reiterating previous models from previous seasons. This culture of free creativity has given rise to some exceptional golf clubs with very ordinary names with none named quite so ordinarily as the 0311. The name really doesn’t do anything other than give the 0311 irons a numerical designation to distinguish them from their close counterparts the 0311T and the 0311XF but it’s not supposed to. The technology in the 0311 irons does all the talking.
Starting with an open face forged body the 0311 is then precision milled to to shape the internal cavity. Once milling is complete an unbelievably thin maraging steel insert is plasma welded in place. Following the face welding the cavity is then filled with PXG’s thermoplastic elastomer filling that sets and gives the clubs a unique sound and feel. This uniqueness is due in part to the soft forged S25C carbon steel but also because of the vibration damping properties of the TPE filling. As with the other clubs that come from PXG the 0311 irons feature a set of perimeter weights that not only give the clubs a striking look but also increase the MOI. All these aspects combine to produce a club the looks stunning, feels incredible and sounds like nothing else on the market.
The 0311 comes in three versions and each is suited to different play styles. The 0311 is the all rounder that sits in the middle giving a balance of forgiveness and performance. The 0311T is aimed more at the player looking for distance and workability while the 0311XF is the most forging of the group with the largest blade and widest sole to inspire confidence.
